2 week old chicks

Week 2 at the Chick Club

I’m not sure what I expected, but the chicks are growing so fast!!  The difference in the chicks at 2 weeks old  is amazing.  I didn’t think they would be jumping or trying to roost at this age.  The ring leader is Zombie who will even use me as a perch when I reach in.  They are eating and drinking like champs.  Yesterday, they also got a full brooder cleaning because the mess grows with them.  They are not as keen on being held as they were at a day old, but I make a point to talk to them and hold them everyday because I am going to have friendly chickens or else!!

Handyman Hubby to the Rescue (as always)

As I mentioned, Lady Zombie is a wild one.  She has jumped atop the feeder more than once and even managed to jump out of the brooder!  I am very lucky that my hubby is super handy.  First it was, “Honey I need a cover for the brooder!”  Done.  brooder lid brooder lid and and lights

Time for a real coop to be built

At this rate, I think they are going to be out of the brooder sooner than planned.  Hubby is going to start the real coop tomorrow.  In the meantime, we are really enjoying the girls.  It’s so much fun for the kids and I to watch all the changes they go through on a daily basis.  I have to admit I miss the day old cuteness, but now they are starting to get their real feathers.  I keep changing my mind as to who is the prettiest.  Soup is the biggest and Chickaletta the smallest, but they all seem to get along and still snuggle together at night to sleep.chick feeding
