The barn cats

Felix and Oscar have adjusted well to the barn.  They sleep in a covered bed of an old pick up truck and get to roam the barn during the day.  In the morning and evening they go out in the yard to explore.  If we had a cat door (or should I say when we get a cat door), they will have more freedom outside.

These two make the most of their time outside and I’m finally getting used to their crazy antics which usually involve a tree or the chicken coop

The house cat

Storm has come out from inside my box spring! Well, most days.  She still runs and hides when there is too much commotion in the house, but is becoming a more active part of the family.

The one thing she is not shy about is food.  When she hears the dogs being fed in the morning, she comes out and starts to meow loudly.  Maybe it will change in the future, but I find the sound of her meowing a lot more endearing than the demanding bark of the dogs.

Having a late night snack on couch?  She will definitely be out to find out if it’s something she wants a taste of…and will try and help herself.

When the dogs get let out for the last time at night, they each get a bedtime treat.  Miss Storm has decided she should too and now I keep a supply of kitten treats nearby so she isn’t left out.

Most days, if she isn’t hiding under the bed, she can be found in one of her two favorite spots: with Popeye or on my desk.
