Time for some Spring cleaning

Plenty of snack for the birds during the cold months
Took down all the brush to make room for new growth

Over the winter, we left up most of the dried plants because there was still plenty for the birds to nibble on. We finally had a day in the upper 50’s and we cleaned up. There was a lot of green and purple popping up!

In the fall, we bought a truckload of mulch, but we had that crazy October snow and never moved it all over the garden. Now that it was defrosted we were able to gently cover up the garden again because it is the Midwest and winter likes to creep back in….

Six days later…

As I predicted, the warm wouldn’t last long! The spring snow lasted less than 24 hours, but the kids had a chance to play in it.

2020 Pollinator Garden Goals

Looking forward to expanding the butterfly garden around the corner to the back of the garage. It gets plenty of light and has been a wasted space. I’m already making lists for the native plant sales….sure hope they are not canceled this year!

Spring is my favorite season, it always makes me so hopeful and with the craziness in the world today, we all need it! Can’t wait to share some more budding plants and spring ephemerals!

First of the year
