Yesterday we found another turtle

She* was hanging out in the grass off the patio….about 200 ft (as the crow flies) from the pond! She was just chilling, but we thought he should go back to the pond. The dog run has a fence so to get to the pond you have to go around the garage…probably 300 ft to the pond.

Close up of the turtle. She got a ride via my husband back to the pond and was kind enough to pee on his shoe as a thank you!

The turtle seemed very happy to be back in the pond. Rushed right into the water and disappeared.

Today I was working on the butterfly garden

Look who is back? Now not quite as far… the driveway. If you check the coloring on her right side….definitely the same turtle. She is now Houdini….who knows where she will appear next!

Back to the pond again…but I put her in a plastic tote for the ride. Turtles are my absolute favorite animal for some reason so I love when we meet a new one. Can’t wait to see if she shows up far from home again tomorrow.

*I say she, but I don’t know how to sex a turtle so it’s just a guess. Maybe she is looking to nest, but she needs to find somewhere a little safer than next to the house or driveway. Good luck Houdini!
