2018 – Mosquito Menace

Last year, we had a slight weed problem in the garden…leading to the hubby’s Extreme Weed Control method. Actually it was a nightmare…the mosquitos made it unbearable to enter the garden thus becoming an overgrown jungle which encouraged more mosquitos.

2018: The year of the overgrown weed garden….I swear there are veggies in there too

2019: Record Rain for May….

Rain, rain, go away…that was my Mantra for May. Over eight inches and it rained 23 out of 31 days! A record for the Chicagoland area. Needless to say…

2019 Extreme Weeding

Since there were no veggies planted yet, the hubby used the lawn mower* to take everything down to a manageable length.

Veggies in the ground! Still some spot weeding to do, but also much more accessible!

*The Lawn Mower

It takes a special person to think it’s fun to mow with a 50+ year old mower….and that’s my hubby! He says one day we’ll get a fancy new zero-turn mower. For now, he loves his Yazoo. He isn’t the only one, as you can see from Modern Survivalists.com.

It mows the grass…and now the garden too. No complaints from me. Plus, he can attach a cart and haul things around the yard. Beats the wagons I use, but you will never find me driving that thing!
