All about Daina
I was raised in an idyllic suburb of Chicago. Everyone in my family was in Real Estate. I got my license after college, but then ditched it all to move to Washington, DC and become an RID Certified Sign Language Interpreter. I have loved working with the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community for 20 years. During that time, the real estate fell by the wayside despite my family’s disappointment.
When my husband and I set out to find a home with some open space, we never thought it would take so long and include so much heartbreak. It was then I decided to restart the real estate career in the hopes of helping crazy city slickers like us who think “farm living is the life for me!”
So now I am a Broker Associate with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Chicago in Libertyville, I’m fluent in ASL, working in Lake County, Illinois and loving my life in the Exurbs.
About this blog
When I was a kid, my parents would ask what I wanted for my birthday.
I would say, a puppy.
When they said, sorry you can’t have a puppy, what else do you want?
I would say, two puppies!
Ten years ago, I met a person I had nothing in common with him. Seven years ago I married him. We got a puppy. And six months later, we got a second puppy! I knew this was going to be an adventure like I had never experienced. My husband was raised in Chicago, me in the northern suburbs.
One of the few things we actually have in common was a love of the outdoors and open spaces. When we realized we had outgrown our house, we both agreed we wish we had some land. Where that was and how we got it is a whole other story….
Now that we own our very own “green acres”, I realized I had so much to share. From the experience of getting our house (and losing 3 other deals beforehand) to figuring out what to do with it once we owned it, I thought there must be others out there searching the Web (when they should be sleeping) for answers on how to do it, just like I did. Lake County is filled with great diversity and open spaces….let me show you around!
